Updating Your New Year’s Travel Resolutions: Which Texas Cities to Visit in 2020
The Lone Star State is so vast, that it would be doing it a disservice if you visit just one city for New Year’s. After all, who’d want to miss out on the beautiful, majestic landscapes the state has to offer? There’s so much to do—even during winters—and so much to see.
Of course, we’re not saying you have to visit every city in Texas! But if you’re planning a visit, make sure to stop by these amazing destinations:
If this is your first time visiting Texas, we recommend starting with San Antonio. There’s so much natural beauty in the city. Moreover, there’s a whole range of museums and modern attractions that will sweep you off your feet.
If you’re a foodie, we recommend going to Boudro’s on the Riverwalk. There’s a really nice bar there that’s open all day. For a nice meal (and if you love meat), we recommend going to the Lodge Restaurant of Castle Hills.
Our favorite place for ice cream is the Menger Hotel. Their mango ice cream is to die for.
We understand if you’re surprised that Texas has a coastline. But Galveston is by far the best place to visit if you want to view Texas’ grand coastline. It’s also known as the “playground” of the south, because the locals love parties and there’s always something to look forward to.
There are also concerts and festivals that you don’t want to miss out on, and plenty of night clubs as well. Did we mention that there are restaurants built on cruise ships and bars that are open all night?
Of course, this list wouldn’t be complete with Houston. The city is huge, and that means there are so many things to do and so many places to visit here!
We recommend visiting the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center. There are also local rodeos if you’re brave-hearted.
But if that’s not your vibe, there are also plenty of spas and golf courses if you want to relax.
If you have any stereotypes about Texas, be prepared to have them shattered. Austin defies every single one; it’s an incredible city to pay a visit to. There are plenty of activities to try when you’re here.
There’s swimming, sport fishing, surfing, scuba diving, etc. There are also vintage record shops you can visit, spas, restaurants, cafes, shopping malls, food trucks, craft beers, and museums.
Dallas is another huge city in Texas, making it perfect for those who like to take long drives in the evening. There are plenty of parks, restaurants, theme parks, and art museums.
Pro-tip: Don’t forget to visit Downtown’s Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza, the Dallas Museum of Art and the Crow Collection of Asian Art.
