What You Should Pack for Your Austin Trip, Mid-Pandemic
Once a burgeoning society full of fun, glamour, and music, Austin—like the rest of the world—has packed up shop and is urging its people to stay indoors to limit exposure from the COVID-19 virus.
So, if you have an essential trip planned to the city, you may be a little worried about what you should take along with it! Staying indoors means that you’ll be away from the hot weather Austin is so famous for, and with no chance of swimming, swing dancing, and other outdoor activities any time soon, how do you adjust your traveling essentials?
Cubby asked our storage providers in Austin to give us a list of all they think travelers will need during their trip!
An Essential Packing List
The things you’ll need to pack for your trip depend on the time you’ll be traveling in. If you’re visiting Austin during the summer, i.e., June to August, you should expect a lot of heat that’ll reach the triple-digit mark. And it’s going to be pretty dry. For your comfort, here are some essential items you should pack:
- One pair of travel pants
- Two pairs of shorts
- Two pairs of jeans
- 2–3 dress shirts
- Two t-shirts
- Two tank tops
- Two pairs of comfy walking shoes
- One pair of sneakers
- One light jacket
- 2–3 pairs of socks
- Four pairs of underwear
Although these are essential clothing items, you’ll still need some added things in light of the COVID-19 crisis and the needed care:
- A pack of face masks, or homemade face coverings
- Medical-grade disposable gloves
- Essential medication for sore throat, flu, etc
- Hand sanitizers (travel size)
- Antibacterial wipes
Alongside, keep your bathroom essentials and toiletries handy, and throw in your phone charger and a portable battery charger for good measure.
Travel with Care
The city of Austin had extended the Stay Home – Stay Safe Order to May 30th, 2020 (at the time of posting this blog!). However, if essential businesses resume and the city reopens, we’d still recommend that you adhere to the rules and limit your travels as much as possible.
When outdoors, wear a face mask or a face covering, and only visit other places if you have essential work. Also, limit your trip to only a few days or even one, so there’s no need for you to stay in a hotel. Use short-term luggage storage services in Austin, such as Cubby to store your belongings, and disinfect your things before handing them over. This’ll keep our storage providers safe as well.
And be safe. Taking extra precautions may seem like a hassle right now. But this effort will count in the long run!
